Green ICT for Recycle and Reduce Paper Consumptions- myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theGreen ICT for Recycle and Reduce Paper Consumptions. Answer: Green ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) works with communities and government agencies in development of skills relating to the environment. With increased problem of global warming and gradual increase in cost of energy consumptions, governments all over the world are working on the ways to safeguard the environment. Green ICT or Green Computing explores and put into practice methods of using computer resources efficiently. In broader sense, ICT is allowing us to use technology on power conservation or to drive down the carbon footprint produced by information and communication. The various steps that we can take towards a Green Computing are: Recycle: All unwanted computing equipment should be discarded in an environmentally responsible manner. Computers have various pollutant materials that can cause harmful emission in environment. Hence computer should never be discarded in open land fill. We should send them to manufacturers recycling facilities or to other recycling facilities in community. Also still working computers should be donated to needy people or other community serving organizations. Reduce Paper Consumptions: There are many easy ways to reduce the paper consumption in a company by adopting with use of e-mails, electronic archiving, and using track changes features in word processing software. Print only those pages in a document which are required, and do not print the whole multi-pages documents. The printing should be done in reduced font size and print on both sides of the page. Conserve Energy: We should switch off the computers when it is not to be used for longer period of time. And for shorter period of inactivity, use power management features which is available in all operating systems. References 1.
